Councilman
Stevie Wall
Councilman Stevie Wall, 49 is a native of Pooler. He has been on the council
for 14 years, and remains the longest active serving councilman.
A graduate of Tompkins High School and Savannah Tech. Wall has worked in the
utility department of International Paper for 26 years, and is an inactive
licensed real estate agent.
He is a former chairman of the Pooler Planning
and Zoning committee; former chairman of the Public Safety committee; and
currently serves as chairman for the water and sewer committee.
His family includes his wife Donna, of nearly 10 years, and their daughter Rachelle Laughinghouse.
Wall is also a lifelong member of Rothwell Baptist Church.
Councilman
Bruce Allen
Bruce Allen is a lifelong resident of Pooler. He has been employed by
International Paper for 35 years. He is a member of Woodlawn Baptist
Church. He has served on City Council for 8 years and is currently Mayor
Pro-Tem. He is a former Chairman of the Finance committee, Public Safety
committee; and currently serves as chairman of the Planning and Zoning
Committee.
He loves being a part of the City of Pooler and helping the City move
forward in its growth. But he still feels that the City has that small
home-town feeling. He married Kathy Wilson in 1983 and has a son, Bo who
lives in Pooler. It is a privilege and honor to serve the citizens of
Pooler.
Councilwoman
Rebecca Benton
As a lifelong resident of Pooler, Rebecca Benton grew up on Benton's
Dairy-producer of Starland Dairies. Benton is an attorney and presently
serves as Pooler City Council liaison with the streets and drainage
committee.
She received a 2006 Certificate of Recognition from Georgia Training and
Institute for Elected Officials for completing required courses.
Benton is also a board member and legal advisor of Savannah Children's
Theatre and member of the Pooler Rotary Club.
Councilman
Mike Royal
Councilman Michael Royal,
45, is a Pooler native. He was elected to the council in 2005. He is a
professional plumber, and has been the owner/ operator for Mike Royal
Plumbing Co., since 1997.
He is a Groves High School graduate. His past civic involvement includes
being a member and chairman of the Pooler Recreation Committee. He is a member of
Rothwell Baptist Church, where he serves on various committees. Royal has
been married for 29 years to wife, Cathy. Together they have three sons:
Clay, 23; Matt, 20; and John Taylor, 18
Councilwoman
Shannon Black
Council Woman Shannon Black has called Pooler "home" for the past 16 years.
She is married to Joey Black and has two children, Zachary and Josie Grace.
Her background is in Property Development and she holds a Georgia Real
Estate License.
She is very active in the community and education, and
continues to serve as Treasurer on the Pooler Elementary PTA. She was
elected to Council in 2010 and currently chairs the Recreation Committee.
Mrs. Black attended Georgia Southern University.
Councilman
David Burke
Councilman David Burke elected to council in 2010. He
is a retired Major of 30 years from the Pooler Police Department. He has
received numerous diplomas and distinguished awards throughout his career.
He is a member of Life Springs Worship Center where he served as President
of the Men's Ministry.
He has been married to lifelong resident Debbie Dilas
Burke for 38 years. Together they have 2 grown children, James and Farrah,
both of Pooler. They also have 8 grandchildren.
