(a) Created. The city hereby creates an information technology fee. The clerk of the municipal court shall be entitled to collect the information technology fee for each criminal action, traffic action and violation of city ordinance in an amount not to exceed $10.00. Said amount to be determined by the chief justice of the said court.

(b) Technology fees will be used exclusively to provide for the technological needs of the court and the administration of justice in the city. Such usage shall include only the following:

(1) Computer, hardware and software purchases;

(2) Lease maintenance and installation of computer hardware and software;

(3) Purchase lease maintenance and installation of imaging, scanning, facsimile, communications, projections and printing equipment and software.

Funds collected pursuant to this section shall be maintained in a segregated fund by the finance officer of the city and shall be used only for the purposes authorized in this section at the direction of the chief justice of the court.
